A Washington state sheriff’s deputy died Wednesday after he was wounded throughout a shootout with a person wished for a previous assault, authorities and a report mentioned.
Dominique “Dom” Calata, 35, was one among two deputies with the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department shot in the course of the mayhem at a mobile-home park close to Spanaway on Tuesday afternoon, the Seattle Times reported.
The deputies had joined native authorities with the South Sound Gang Task Force to arrest the suspect, Jeremy Dayton, who was being sought on a warrant for second-degree assault, the report mentioned.
Gunfire erupted and Calata and Sgt. Rich Scaniffe, 45, had been wounded within the taking pictures.
Calata, an Army veteran who had been with the sheriff’s division for over six years, died from his accidents Wednesday, authorities mentioned. He was married and leaves behind a younger son.
Dayton was additionally killed in the course of the shootout.
Scaniffe, a 21-year veteran of the division, underwent surgical procedure and was listed in secure situation.
