THE mother of a missing 7-year-old has shared new photos of the girl as police revealed a timeline surrounding her disappearance.
Police said Harmony Montgomery was living with her father, stepmother, and two of the couple’s children at a New Hampshire home before she vanished in 2019.
The little girl wasn’t reported missing until late 2021, and the district attorney’s office revealed new information this week about when she was last seen.
NEW PHOTOS
Photos sent to local news station WMUR from Harmony’s birth mother Crystal Sorey show a young Harmony grinning in a stroller.
Another picture shows the mother and daughter duo smiling as they pose together for a selfie.
The news comes as:
- Cops reveal when missing girl, 7, was last seen & how family were living in car
- Dad of missing girl, 7, ‘a murder suspect in shooting death of man’ 2 years after she vanished
- Fights were reported at Harmony Montgomery’s ‘messy’ home & neighbors raised child abuse fears before girl, 7, vanished
- Harmony Montgomery’s stepmom Kayla Montgomery arrested for ‘claiming $1,500 in benefits’ for girl, 7, after dad charged
- Harmony Montgomery’s mom says daughter, 7, was ‘failed’ and claims she ‘reported neglect and abuse dozens of times’
Sorey has said that she last saw Harmony during a Facetime call right before Easter in 2019.
“I showed her her basket. I said, ‘I’m coming in a couple of days. Mommy got you a basket,’” Sorey told News Nation earlier this month.
“I held on to the basket for a year and some change, hoping I’d have a chance to give it to her.”
She told the news outlet that Harmony went to live with her father, 31-year-old Adam Montgomery, when Sorey lost custody in 2018.
Sorey said Harmony’s father blocked all contact after that.
DISAPPEARANCE TIMELINE
Harmony was living with her dad, his new wife, and their two children when the family was evicted from their home on November 27, 2019, according to investigators.
Multiple people reported seeing Harmony with Adam and stepmom Kayla Montgomery in the days following the eviction.
“Witnesses have reported that during that time, Adam, Kayla, and the children were homeless and living out of cars, possibly in the North End of Manchester,” the attorney general’s office said in a news release.
Between December 6 and 10, the couple had only their two common children with them, prosecutors said.
Investigators now believe that Harmony disappeared sometime between November 28 and December 10, 2019.
Manchester police got a call on November 18, 2021, from Harmony’s biological mother, who said her daughter was missing and that Adam had custody of her.
That led police to contact the Division for Children Youth & Families, which started a search for Adam, court records showed.
Detectives began searching for the 31-year-old on December 27, after DCYF told them they were unable to locate Harmony’s father.
FATHER CHARGED
Adam Montgomery was arrested in early January on charges of felony second-degree assault, interference with custody, and endangering the welfare of a child.
Police said they talked with his brother Michael, who told them Adam was physically abusive to Harmony and gave her a black eye.
According to court documents, a detective also spoke to Adam’s uncle Kevin, who said that Adam told him in July 2019 that he [Adam] “bashed her [Harmony] around the house.”
Adam was allegedly angry at the 5-year-old because she was supposed to be watching her infant brother, but he started crying, which enraged the father.
The uncle also said Adam spanked his daughter, forced her to stand in the corner for hours, and ordered her to scrub a toilet with her toothbrush.
Harmony’s stepmom Kayla Montgomery was also arrested in January and charged with a felony count of welfare fraud.
Authorities said she continued to claim food stamp benefits for Harmony for more than a year after she was last seen.
Both Adam and Kayla pleaded not guilty.
$10,000 REWARD
Harmony’s birth mother said her gut tells her Harmony is still alive.
“A mother knows,” Sorey told News Nation.
“You know when your baby’s not here anymore. You feel it the day that it happens.”
Harmony is described as 4 feet tall and around 50 pounds, with blond hair and blue eyes. She wears glasses and is blind in her right eye.
“We’re operating under the assumption she’s alive and well, and that’s how we’ll operate until someone convinces me otherwise,” Manchester Police Chief Allen Aldenberg said this week.
He announced a $10,000 reward for information and said texts or calls can be made to the agency’s tip line, 603-203-6060, any time of day.
