A SERVING Met Police cop has been charged with rape, the force said this morning.
PC Ireland Murdock will appear at Croydon Magistrates’ Court today.
The officer, who is attached to the Central North Command Unit, was arrested on January 11 this year.
It’s alleged he committed the offence on Saturday, September 25 last year in Lambeth while off duty.
He has been suspended.
A spokesperson for the Met said: “The Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed, as has the Independent Office for Police Conduct.
“The alleged victim is being supported by specialist officers.”
