A routine investigation is now underway into the incident at Can Pere Antoni beach, which is a mile east of the island’s capital Palma.
The beach where it happened was packed at the time and police reportedly used sun loungers to cover his body so it wasn’t so visible to locals.
It comes as another British person died after plunging from the sixth-floor of a four-star hotel on the island on Sunday.
