Kate Middleton, the Duchess of Cambridge, recently made a public appearance with a surprising guest by her side. According to People, Middleton and Princess Anne made their first public appearance together for a good cause.
The pair traveled to the London headquarters of the Royal College of Midwives and the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, who are working to improve conditions for expectant mothers. This is a cause that hits close to home for both of the royals. Middleton has three children with Prince William, while Princess Anne is the mother of two adult children.
Dr. Edward Morris, President of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, exclusively told People that he was impressed by the visit. “What struck me was the way their Royal Highnesses were both interested and very curious about what we were doing and asked very personal questions — very much about looking after future generations and looking after mothers of today for the benefit of women and children of tomorrow.”
While Middleton and Princess Anne have been seen together at various family events, this was the first time just the two of them stepped out together in support of a cause (the Daily Mail). They are both patrons of the organizations they visited.
