Renovated in the 1950s to the present 27-hole championship layout, the Upper Montclaire Country Club, New Jersey is hosting the 11th LPGA Tour event. The Club is one of the few to host all three professional tour tournaments.

It is the 10th year since the inception of the championship. However, it is only the second time the Club is hosting it.

Beginning in 2011, the event has already had a back-to-back champion on the Tour. The current world no. 1 Jin Young Ko has won the event in 2019 and had successfully defended her title in 2021.

Along with the defending champion, Lexi Thompson, Lydia Ko, and the rising amateur star Anna Davis are all part of the field this year. Many of the world’s top golfers are present on the field. Therefore, the golf world is likely to see a nail-biting game at the Montclaire Country Club.

The purse money of the LPGA Tour event

The prize money at the Cognizant Founders Cup of 2022 is $3 million. The champion would bag the $450,000 out of the purse, which is the standard 15 percent payout according to the LPGA Tour’s prize money distribution chart.

A cut will be made after two rounds. And only the top 70 players and ties out of the 144 present on the field will be able to advance to the final 2 rounds.

While the prize money is the highlight of the championship, there are other benefits that only the champion would receive. The winner will receive 500 Race to the CME Globe points. The CME points will help the winner to be a part of the 60 players to play at the CME Group Tour Championship.

The winner will also get a two-year exemption on the LPGA Tour. Winning at the event will also ensure a direct qualification to the season’s major championship.
