Aaron Rodgers felt that the Colts’ QB Andrew Luck received a bitter reaction from the crowd on announcing his retirement. The 32-year-old retired after playing seven seasons for the Indianapolis Colts. Rodgers felt both surprised and disgusted, but for different reasons.

The Packers’ QB felt surprised because of the timing of the decision. Andrew announced his retirement just two weeks before the start of the season in 2019. Rodgers thought it was disgusting when the Colts’ fans booed him during the game with the Bears.

In retrospect, Luck was suffering from an ankle injury that restricted his movement in the offseason. Further, in 2017, he also went through a shoulder injury that limited his participation in that season. Luck’s decision to retire was to keep his body free from any more injuries.

In addition, reflecting on Andrew’s decision to give up playing in the NFL, the 4x MVP had only positives to note. First, Rodgers believed that the decision was highly unselfish since the Colts‘ QB could have stayed on the roster and continued to cash out paychecks, but he did not.

Why did Aaron Rodgers feel disgusted after Luck’s retirement?

After the team’s preseason game against the Chicago Bears, the fans in the stadium heavily booed Andrew Luck. It could have humiliating and insulting for any sports person who has put their blood and sweat into the game. Additionally, no one understands this feeling better than another sports person. In this case, Rodgers was the one who felt extremely unhappy after this reaction.

He said, “I think the second is a little disgust, maybe, at the way that it was handled. Him getting booed, the word leaking out the way that it did, I thought that was a little disgusting. Because here’s a guy who’s making a quality of life decision. And he’s given a lot to the game, although he’s not a 15-year vet; but he’s put himself through a ton just to get back on the field.”

Although Luck had a brief career, he made an impact that propelled the Packers‘ QB to express his feelings about Luck’s retirement. This decision reflected how difficult it could be for an athlete to maintain physical health while playing the brutal game.
