Combat sports is an extremely entertaining form of sporting event. Boxing and Mixed Martial Arts are the two most popular types of such sports. The YouTuber-turned-boxer, Jake Paul, shared his views on what makes UFC better than boxing in one aspect.
‘The Problem Child’ joined the Flagrant podcast with comedians Andrew Schulz and Aakash Singh and discussed his views on boxing and President Dana White’s UFC.
Jake Paul explains the difference between boxing and UFC
The YouTube and internet sensation Jake Paul has channeled all his focus and energy into his young boxing career. Paul was supposed to fight Tommy Fury on August 6, 2022. However, due to Fury’s inability to enter the United States of America, the fight is canceled.
Furious with the outcome, Paul praised UFC President Dana White for handling his business so splendidly. He stated that in boxing, many big fights fail to happen because fighters make excuses and back out. However, in UFC if one fighter backs out, there’s always another one in the line to take his place.
He said, “That’s what’s great about UFC. actually okay, you don’t wanna fight. There’s someone else in line and we are gonna shelf you now and fu*k off, but in boxing, these guys hide behind so many excuses.” Although Paul and White don’t see eye to eye on many things, it was endearing to see Paul acknowledge White’s work.
Jake Paul’s history with the UFC
‘The Problem Child’ boasts a perfect record of 5-0 in his young boxing career. Although he hasn’t fought many opponents, three of his wins have come against UFC fighters. Not only did he win those fights, but he also knocked them out cold.
Paul went toe to toe against veteran Ben Askren and former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley. Moreover, Paul knocked out Askren in the first round. Whereas, Woodley lost not once but twice, with the second one coming by way of a knockout.
