Aaron Judge is in a league of his own. The New York Yankees slugger has been a pure blockbuster from the plate this season. With 54 home runs already in his name, Judge is on a pace to hit 63 home runs this season.

Given his current form and the number of games left to play, it is almost certain the Yankees slugger will break Roger Maris’ single-season record (61) to hit most home runs. However, he will still be far behind Barry Bonds’ record (73 homers). But since Bonds allegedly used PEDs, many baseball pundits and fans do not consider him an actual record-holder.

Talking about the same, renowned MLB announcer Bob Costas said if Judge ends up breaking Maris’ record; He will become the authentic home run king.

Will Aaron Judge cross the 62-home run mark?

Aaron Judge has been the lone warrior for the New York Yankees this season. He has single-handedly won several games for the Pinstripes. Right from the start of the 2022 regular season, the Yankees slugger has been in top form.

Recently, MLB analyst Rich Eisen asked Hall-of-Fame announcer Bob Costas for his opinion on the real home run king. Costas was clear with his words. He said if Judge reaches the magical number (62), no one but only he will be the authentic home run king.

“For now, Roger Maris is the authentic single-season home run king just as Henry Aaron is the authentic career home run king… Statistically and officially, Barry Bonds holds both those records and 73 (home runs in a season) is unreachable,” Bob Costas opined

“But in the minds of many reasonable people, if Aaron Judge hits 62 or more, he will be the authentic single-season record holder.”

Notably, Aaron Judge has been the biggest pillar of strength for the Pinstripes this season. Despite the failures of the other batters, Judge has been the one who never let his guard down.
