The cryptocurrency craze took the world by storm as the value for some of them soared sky-high. Many ultra-rich and affluent people quadrupled their investments overnight. Even some smart rookie investors became millionaires. Many star athletes, including Lindsey Vonn, also invested in the currencies to make some extra money.

During one of her interviews, Vonn talked about what she thought about crypto and her approach toward it.

Lindsey Vonn discusses cryptocurrency

Post her retirement, Lindsey Vonn took little rest and jumped right back into action. The alpine skier got into the thick of things with multiple ventures. These ventures included opening a production house with her friend, writing a memoir, and becoming a businesswoman.

Adopting a cautious approach to her business (contrary to how she tackled things on the course), Vonn did not warm up to the currency immediately. She told the interviewer, “I have small investments in crypto, but I don’t have any major holdings with it. I think there’s still quite a bit of volatility in it, and I don’t entirely trust it yet.”

Vonn also added that she has read almost all the reports on crypto, and globally it made a lot of sense. But she added she wanted to learn more about the currency before making a heavy investment.

Top athletes with crypto investments

While the ‘cautious’ Lindsey Vonn relied little on the crypto trend, some other top athletes took advantage of the situation and made heavy investments in the currency. Some of them include:

1. Serena Williams: Regarded as the GOAT in female tennis, Serena Williams is one of the earliest investors in Coinbase, a leader in the crypto exchange.

2. Floyd Mayweather Jr.: The boxer with the perfect 50-0 record, Floyd Mayweather, is also a crypto investor. He has made record-breaking investments in the field and has often spoken in the favor of crypto publicly.
3. Lionel Messi: The little magician of soccer, Lionel Messi, is one of the greatest players to ever grace the field. He, too, has invested heavily in cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum.

Ironically, it seems like the fast-paced nature of the stock market was not to the liking of the alpine skiing star. Vonn took things slow, which may have proved to be a good move.
