Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl has reportedly been added to the Manchester United shortlist for their manager position in the summer.

In his third full season on the south coast, the Austrian has impressed and his Saints side are currently ninth in the Premier League table.

They have taken some notable scalps this season including a win at Tottenham and a 1-1 draw at both Manchester clubs.

Interim boss Ralf Ragnick is set to make the move upstairs in the summer and knows Hasenhuttl well from their time working together at RB Leipzig.

Now, Hasenhuttl’s name has reportedly been added to United’s managerial shortlist

Two Premier League draws against champions Manchester City made the United decision makers, who include football director John Murtough and technical director Darren Fletcher, take notice of Hasenhuttl’s work according to the Mirror.

However, the 54-year-old faces competition for the job with former Saints boss Mauricio Pochettino and Ajax’s Erik ten Hag being the front runners.

But should the United hierarchy fail to land either, they would be open to switching to pursuing Hassenhuttl.

Like Pochettino, Hassenhuttl has cut his Premier League managerial teeth at St Marys and the Mirror reports he would be open to a move to a bigger club.
