When one talks about the greatest players ever, Shaquille O’Neal is always in the mix. His time with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Miami Heat etched his name into the history books of the game.

Apart from his illustrious career on the court, Shaq is known for his humble nature outside it. Time and again, Shaq has proven that he has a heart of gold. O’Neal’s random acts of kindness and his philanthropy ventures are a testament to the same.

Recently, he sent an emotional message to parents all around the world on The Big Podcast with Shaq. Shaq said, “Father’s day is every day. That’s the problem with you earthlings. Mother’s day is every day and so is father’s day.”

Talking at an event hosted by Carnival Cruise Line, Shaq said, “So mom from the bottom of my heart, I want to say thank you. I love you, I appreciate you, I wouldn’t be here without you. I can remember times where I didn’t want to go to school. And she said, ‘Go to school boy’. Now I’m the CFO of the best cruise line ever.”

This is just one of the countless instances when Shaq has credited his success to his mother, Lucille. His stepdad, Phillip Harrison, has also often received credit from Shaq for sticking by him throughout his childhood.

Truly, Shaq’s parents are deserving of all his gratitude and ours, too. For had it not been for their support and guidance, we’d never have one of the greatest NBA players ever grace the game and go on to become one of the most entertaining analysts in the world of basketball.
