Serena Williams has established her name in the world of tennis by being one of the most legendary tennis players. However, that has not saved her from the criticism of others. UFC commentator, Joe Rogan too had questioned the claims of Serena Williams hiding in her panic room when a drug-tester had come to her house.
She had claimed that she hid because she thought it was a stalker and was worried about her safety. The way she acted has always been a point of debate and discussion.
Joe Rogan questioned Serena Williams’ claims of being scared
In 2011, Serena Williams had once locked herself in a panic room thinking that the person who had visited her house was a stalker. Eventually, he turned out to be a drug tester. Joe Rogan was talking about the use of testosterone in the Jiu-jitsu world in a podcast.
Switching to tennis, he said, “This is coming from obviously a person who takes testosterone, me.” He went on to read the heading of the article and said, “Serena Williams locks herself in panic room in drug-test mix-up.” He continued, “There was no mix-up. She knew what the f*** was going on.”
Rogan mimicked the player and said, “She’s like, there’s a stalker, someone’s trying to kill me.” He continued, “If that chic has a tennis racquet, she can beat the f*** out of anyone in the world. You think she’s really worried about some f***ing d***? The pocket protector comes to her house with a p*** cup.”
The player had already had an encounter with a stalker recently. So, Williams had assumed that the drug-tester was a stalker.
Williams rose above the rhetorics
Serena Williams stepped into the world of tennis when there was a general notion as to how a tennis player should be. She broke all those notions and played solely keeping her goal in mind. Tennis legend, Martina Hingis had criticized her gameplay too, but Williams did not phase away.
She stayed focused on the court and despite the crowd’s reaction to her; she thrived. People commented on her looks and her gameplay and subjected her to one or the other criticism but she let her racquet do the talking. Hence, now she has become a tennis legend with 23 grand slam titles under her name.
