Parents love to see their children take after them. They experience immense joy when their children share the same passions as them. Previously, Michael Phelps expressed that he wants his sons to follow their dreams.

However, knowing one of his sons likes the sport which has become synonymous with him must give him immense joy. The kid successfully performed a maneuver many skilled swimmers and divers have difficulty executing.

Michael Phelps’ son taking after his father

The swimmer posted a video on Instagram of his second son, Beckett Richard Phelps, trying out an underwater trick. On July 20, a video greeted the fans of the athlete. In it, the child dived head first to the bottom of their private pool.

However, he was not displaying childish playfulness. The kid had a mission; he was trying to replicate a skill that his father showcased on television in 2012. People following the life of the Phelps know the trick is none other than the bubble ring.

A bubble ring, also known as a toroidal vortex in scientific terminology, is a whirling gas bubble in the shape of a hoop in water. To perform the trick successfully, one needs to dive to the bottom of a pool and force air through the mouth or nostrils in a certain way.
