Bryson DeChambeau has always been an innovator. It would not be a lie to say that no other player has changed his physique and techniques as the 2020 U. S. Open champion did to improve his game. Yet, there is still one thing that stays unaltered throughout his career: his grips!

The 28-year-old uses JumboMax X-Large grips for his clubs and has been using them since he started as a junior golfer. The specialty of the grips is that their surface area is much larger than the standard grips, making more place to hold them. Notably, DeChambeau’s club grip has a circumference of 4.38-inch.

DeChambeau is only one of the five golfers to win the US Amateur and men’s NCAA Divison 1 Championship in the same year. And the golfer won it using the JumboMax grips.

Moreover, it has been more than five years since he turned professional. Yet, he still chose not to change his grips and has won 10 championship titles worldwide, including a major.

Bryson DeChambeau explained why he chose JumboMax as his grips!

“The oversized grip has been a big part of my success,” the 1-time major champion said. Furthermore, he added, “the idea that I can have more area on the grip to hold the club makes it the number one reason I used it as an amateur and now as a professional.”

Nicknamed ‘The Mad Scientist,’ the golfer is known to bring innovations to his equipment and techniques. True to his character, DeChambeau worked together with JumboMax to develop the brand’s first Jumbo putter grip.

Notably, he won the Omega Dubai Desert Classic in 2019, his first DP World Tour victory. He had won the event with an impressive 7-shot lead against the English golfer Matt Wallace.

Is DeChambeau good at putting?

Bryson DeChambeau is known for hitting bombs on the golf course. He had covered 406 yards at the 2021 World Long Drive Championship, winning the 7th position in the competition. However, is he good at putting?

DeChambeau ranked 10th on the PGA Tour’s 2019-20 season in the strokes gained/putting stat. While the experts agree that his putting style is not orthodox, it works and gives him results.

Notably, when he made a comeback at the 2022 Memorial Tournament after a wrist surgery, he was not satisfied with any of his other golfing skills other than putting. “Felt like I was putting really good,” he said after the tournament.
