Dawn French hilariously attempted to trick Channing Tatum into marrying her rarely-seen daughter Billie during The Graham Norton Show on Friday.
The comedian, 64, made no hesitation with her request for Hollywood’s most eligible bachelor, 41, before declaring him her ‘son-in-law’ in front of a shocked audience.
Beginning the hysterical exchange, which awkwardly saw her mistake his name for ‘Tanning Chatum’ twice, she said: ‘I’m Dawn French you wouldn’t know me I’m from the eighties, and I’m a goer!

‘I just wanted to ask you about how you have coped over the last grim two years with lockdowns, and has it made you more spontaneous to say yes to things?’
Refusing for him to get a word in edgeways, she continued: ‘If I asked you something now, would you say, “Yes Dawn, I will?”‘
With a smirk on his face, the intrigued star replied: ‘I feel like I’m walking into something here, but you’re a goer, let’s go.’
Beaming from ear-to-ear, she jumped in: ‘Well, I have to tell you “Tanning Chatum” that you just agreed to marry my daughter. You’re my son-in-law now!’

The comedian’s fellow guests including Rob Beckett, Johannes Radebe, and Andrew Garfield struggled to contain their laughter as the Step Up actor blushed.
The Vicar of Dibley star revealed in 2015 that she and Billie, 30 – whom she adopted with her ex husband Lenny Henry – no longer lived together.
She said at the time: ‘I expected that if you nurture [a child], like a tomato plant, it grows towards the light, and surely if your mum is someone who wants to have fun with you and have adventures and read with you and spend time with you, how could you ever have a war?
‘But I haven’t got a kid who wants to read with me and have adventures with me, I’ve got a different kind of kid who’s a different kind of set of challenges and that’s been my lesson…
‘Our relationship exists in a bizarre kind of process of peacetime, small battles, war. The peacetime is much more than the other two energies, but we have our wars.’
Two years after their 2010 split, Dawn went on to marry husband Mark Bignell in April 2013. She now lives around 12 minutes away from her daughter in Cornwall.
