DATING guru Anna Williamson has praised Celebs Go Dating for scrapping its one-off Mansion series – saying it was “intense to film”.

The agent admitted the changed format of the show blurred the lines between celebrities and members of the public looking for love.

She also agreed it had lost its identity by moving away from the therapy side of the process, while focusing on action going on inside The Mansion.

Delivering his critique of the one-off series, Secure the Insecure podcast host Johnny Seifert said: “We didn’t see enough of the therapy and the people who the celebrities were dating also wanted to become celebrities.”

Agreeing with his analysis, Anna said: “The Mansion did really well and we really enjoyed it, but it was intense.

“Shooting that in a pandemic was really hard, but it was the only way we were going to be able to get that series out.

“That’s why with the series that’s just finished, the bosses wanted to get back to the alluring nature of it’s about dating a celebrity – instead of chucking everyone in and blurring all the lines.

“It was losing a lot of the point of the show, which is ‘we’re here to make you better in relationships’.

“We were really pleased when it reverted back to the tried and tested original formula because it gives us more time and space in a logistical filming capacity.

“Also it redefined the lines of who’s the celeb and who’s the non celeb.”

Celebs Go Dating hit our screens back in 2016.

Last year they had to change the title to Celebs Go Virtual Dating due to the coronavirus pandemic.

That was followed by another series Celebs Go Dating: The Mansion earlier this year, which saw the likes of Curtis Pritchard, Chloe Ferry and Wayne Lineker live under the same roof.

It ended up with celebsTom Zanetti and Sophie Hermann hooking up after moving into the lavish mansion, located in Chiddingfold.

It had 10 huge bedrooms and all of them had en suite bathrooms and dressing rooms.

It returned to its original format in January this year – with Married At First Sight star Nikita Jasmine, telly host Ulrika Jonsson, 54, Five pop star Abz Love, 42, Apprentice 2019 star Ryan Mark Parsons, 21, Towie’s Chloe Brockett, 21, Made in Chelsea star Miles Nazaire, 26 and MAFS Australia’s Jessika Power, 29, all taking part.
