‘We’re having a baby!’ Sandilands, 50, declared as the entire KIIS FM studio cheered.

His co-host Jackie ‘O’ Henderson said she was ‘so happy’ for the pair and told them their lives were about to change forever.

The couple learned Kynaston, 36, was expecting last week.

Sandilands said his manager, Bruno Bouchet, had to deflect questions from reporters after Kynaston was seen sporting a slight bump in public on February 2.

Sandilands and Kynaston, who got engaged in Queensland over the Christmas holidays, began trying for a baby last year.

The former Australian Idol judge confirmed in December he had been given the ‘all-clear’ after undergoing fertility testing.

He told Daily Mail Australia: ‘I was really nervous [about the fertility test] until it came back saying, “Yep, it’s all great, everything’s fine.”

‘[Tegan] is all good, obviously. She’s a young and healthy woman. So it’s good to know that everything’s fine in that area so it won’t interfere with any future plans.

‘[I wasn’t thinking about kids] because I’ve been work focused. But all my friends have kids and Tegan’s family and friends, they’ve all got kids. And we’re like the only couple at the barbecue that’ve got no kids, we have the FOMO [fear of missing out].’

He also revealed in July he’d discussed marriage and children with his partner.

‘When you find the right person, things just feel right and it feels very natural to just go down that road,’ he said at the time.

‘I’ve always thought that I’m definitely going to have kids at some stage,’ he added.

Sandilands said in January he hadn’t ruled out having children despite being in his fifties.

‘It is definitely not off the cards,’ he told The Daily Telegraph.

‘It has never really been on my priority list and I think that is just because I was that kid that dragged around my childhood issues from my parents’ divorce and this and that.’

He admitted he wasn’t always interested in having children, but came around to the idea after spending time with other parents, including his longtime friend John Ibrahim and his partner, Sarah Budge.

He had first let slip his baby plans in August during a live segment with KIIS FM’s psychic Georgina Walker.

He made the admission after revealing that sex is different when a couple is trying to get pregnant.

Sandilands said that sex lacks romance and passion when it feels scheduled – like when it’s planned for the most fertile days of a woman’s monthly cycle.

While he didn’t go into details, his reference to having sex when a woman is ovulating piqued Walker’s interest.

Sandilands then acknowledged he and Kynaston were indeed trying to conceive.

‘We have decided that we’ll try for a baby, I suppose,’ he said. ‘There’s a lot of pressure. I didn’t want to bring it up in case she feels pressure.’

Sandilands popped the question to his girlfriend-of-two-years near his holiday home in Port Douglas late last year.

He opened up about his extravagant proposal on his first day back on The Kyle and Jackie O Show on January 17.

He explained he’d hired a venue and arranged for fireworks, candles and a lavish meal before getting down on one knee – but admitted not everything went to plan.

Sandilands had organised for singer-songwriter Conrad Sewell to fly in from overseas and perform the couple’s favourite song for their proposal.

‘But two days before the proposal, Conrad rang me and he was very upset because he had caught Covid,’ he said.

‘I couldn’t postpone it because there were chefs, fireworks and I had hired a venue.’

He decided to go ahead with the proposal without live music and told Kynaston they were going to a pop-up art show.

‘When we got there, we got out, I swung the door open and they played the Conrad song. There were candles and soft lighting,’ he said.

Then, surrounded by candles and their friends, Kyle got down on one knee and asked Tegan to marry him.

He presented his girlfriend with a large oval diamond ring.

After she said yes, they had a romantic dinner together with Australian ingredients including crocodile, kangaroo and dried fig kafta.

To end the night, the newly engaged couple watched a fireworks display with their friends.

The couple debuted their romance on New Year’s Eve in 2019, when Kynaston shared a picture of herself kissing Sandilands in front of the Sydney Harbour Bridge.

Two months earlier, she had denied rumours she was dating the radio shock jock.

They began dating after Sandilands’ split from long-term girlfriend Imogen Anthony.

He announced his break-up with Anthony after eight years together live on The Kyle and Jackie O Show in November 2019.

He told listeners the pair ‘haven’t been living with each other’ for months and their relationship had simply ‘run its course’.

‘We haven’t been with each other for quite a few months now. Unfortunately it’s run its course,’ he said.

He was previously married to Scandal’us singer Tamara Jaber from 2008 to 2010.
