NEIGHBOURS legend Dr Karl Kennedy has made a shock appearance in EastEnders in a touching tribute to the axed soap.
But actor Alan Fletcher was disappointed to not get a more permanent role in the BBC soap.
Alan tweeted a sneak peek of him on set[/caption]
Taking to Twitter, Alan posted a behind-the-scenes photo of himself behind the bar at the infamous Queen Vic pub.
He wrote: “Tried out for a new job at my favourite local. @bbceastenders #theVic (Didn’t get the gig) :(“
Fans commented some suggestions to keep Alan on Albert Square.
One said: “You could do a cameo as yourself, in the UK to celebrate Neighbours but took a wrong turn and ended up in the Vic.”
Another wrote: “Would love to see you as the new pub landlord and I am here for Rebekah E as Sharon’s aussie cousin. MAKE IT HAPPEN guys!”
A third penned: “Turn #theVic into a #Walkabouts Aussie Bar Dr K, they love a good theme night in EastEnders.”

The actor filmed a special appearance in a video for the BBC soap, where he appears with Kellie Bright and Shona McGarty.
He walks into the café as the two women discuss Neighbours coming to an end and takes a selfie with Kellie as Linda.
Meanwhile another Neighbours star – Ryan Moloney – has teased the soap will go on – with a twist.
The 42-year-old actor played Jarrod “Toadfish” Rebecchi in the Australian soap for 27 years, and featured prominently in the show’s final episode, which aired Down Under on Thursday.
Ahead of UK viewers seeing the last ever episode tonight, Ryan spoke to Good Morning Britain about the show, and how it isn’t necessarily the end of it.
He said: “This is farewell to Neighbours…. and a farewell tour, and I’m coming to say goodbye!
MORE EASTENDERS
“Yeah there’s 15 shows Bath, Newcastle, Belfast, and three nights in the London Palladium.”
The tour takes place in March next year and promises to be “the ultimate celebration of all things Ramsay Street.”
The official description reads: “We will be flying over some of the biggest and best names from the show all the way from the other side of the globe.
“This celebration will give Neighbours fans a chance to reminisce on your favourite Erinsborough moments from across the last 37 years.
“Join us as we look back at some of the footage from across the years, enjoy never before heard stories from the cast as they are interviewed live on the stage, plus surprises and a q&a session at the end.
“This will be the ultimate night for any Neighbours fan – and the perfect way to say ‘farewell’ to one of Britain’s most-loved soaps.”
