THE Dog House viewers were left heartbroken after a hopeful dog owner snubbed a pooch due to a “lack of chemistry”.
On the most recent episode of the Channel 4 programme, guest Lorraine was looking for a companion for her son – but it wasn’t to be.
The dogs at the charity in Wood Green have either been lost or abandoned or have been given up by their former owners.
Lorraine and her son Oliver met two-year-old Staffy-cross Cynthia after workers at the charity believed they would be a good fit.
As one of the employees brought the dog out to meet them, Lorraine commented: “Someone’s shy,” as Cynthia stayed close to the worker.
As the dog continued to stand by the door, Oliver stated: “She keeps wandering around, doesn’t she?”
“I’m afraid so,” Lorraine remarked, before admitting: “I’m not sure she’s that bothered about us, if I’m honest.”
Oliver replied: “Yeah, she’s not going to bond with us, is she?”
“Doesn’t feel like it,” Lorraine answered as the dog stood by the door watching the pair.
Those tuned into the show believed Lorraine hadn’t given Cynthia a fair chance.
Taking to Twitter, one person wrote: “Mum expected an instant connection with Cynthia. Dogs need time to bond.”
Echoing their comments, someone else said: “Poor dog hasn’t even had time to bond yet.”
While a third agreed, adding: “Give her a chance – she’s only known you for about 30 seconds.”
Despite the rejection, the ending of the show revealed that Cynthia had gone on to find her forever home.
The Dog House continues on Thursday at 8pm on Channel 4.
