Will there be a second season of No Return?

ITV are yet to confirm if there will be a second season of No Return.

Season One of No Return premiered on ITV and ITV Hub on Monday, February 7, 2022 and aired weekly from then on.

The show consisted of four episodes in total with the final episode finishing on February 28, 2022.

Sheridan Smith and her co-star Michael Jibson play husband and wife Kathy and Martin Powell whose family holiday in Turkey turns into a living hell.

While the story of the show is fictional, the initial pitch was inspired by an actual case of a family getting in trouble abroad, screenwriter Danny Brocklehurst shared.

“This originated from a friend of mine who had been tangentially involved in something of a similar nature where a relative of theirs had been caught up in a foreign legal system,”

He continued: “The story obviously stayed with me and percolated because quite a long time later I suddenly thought, ‘I’ve got two sons, we go on package holidays from time to time, this strikes me as a really good idea for a drama.”

But soon their days of relaxing were shattered when their teenage son, Noah got arrested in the middle of the night following accusations of sexual assault from another boy while at a beach party.

With there being a language barrier and harsh Turkish legal system, both parents were desperate for answers.

Noah remained adamant that he was innocent, and his family were desperate to get him out of custody but there evidence stated to stack up against him.

The parents managed to find themselves a lawyer who turned out to be more of a flash Harry than of a serious legal mind.

Kathy takes it upon herself to track down Milo, the boy who accused Noah of the sexual assault.

However, her searched ended badly with her being thrown out fo a neighbour in hotel.

By the end of the episode Noach was transferred to a prison and was officially charged with assault.

His parents are now looking at being stuck in Turkey for months rather than days.

It becomes a heartbreaking moment for Kathy when her son breaks down in front of her.

As Noah’s hearing isn’t for another two months, mKathy decided to rope her sister Megan (played by Siân Brooke) into a morally dubious plan to overcome the legal system.

Meanwhile, Martin is working on a secret scheme of his own, but are the family playing a dangerous game?

Episode Three

There’s mixed news when it comes to Noah’s welfare in prison.

On one side he’s managed to make a friend but on the other, he’s managed to attack the unwanted attention of the prisons top dogs.

They dont speak much English but the words ‘admit’ and ‘gay’ cause Noah to feel uncomfortable.

Noah’s request for bail is rejected at his trial hearing- where his fateful encounter with Milo is dissected in great detail.

Kathay flies back to the UK to get help form the Foreign Office, but ends up having to take the matter into her own hands again.

Episode Four

Things are not looking good in the run-up to Noah’s final hearing.

Noah is left with the hard choice of pleading guilting and getting a smaller sentence with a possible transfer to a UK prison, or take the risk and not plea guilty but would end up with him having to spend 15 years in Turkish jail if he loses.

Noah’s future is on the line, will he be let free or will he be found guilty?
