A New York gangster who killed three people and attempted to kill two more has escaped from federal custody after being transported to a halfway house, according to the Bureau of Prisons.
Dominic Taddeo, a hitman from a Rochester-area mafia family, escaped on March 28, according to the Bureau of Prisons’ website.

Dominic Taddeo is a New York mobster who was imprisoned in a Florida medium-security prison until February, when he was transferred to a residential halfway house in the same state.
In 1992, Taddeo pleaded guilty to racketeering charges, which included the 1980s mob war murders of three individuals.
In 1982 and 1983, Taddeo assassinated Nicholas Mastrodonato, Gerald Pelusio, and Dino Tortatice.
He was sentenced to 54 years in prison by the late U.S. Judge Michael Telesca after his crime.
Despite his claims that health issues like hypertension and obesity put him at risk of significant COVID-19 complications, a federal judge in western New York denied Taddeo’s compassionate release request last year.
Taddeo’s medical records, according to prosecutors, did not show that he was in ill health.
He barely had a year until he was released from prison.

He was put to a residential halfway house for men and women set to be released from jail in February.
According to documents, Taddeo was due to go to a doctor’s appointment on March 28 but never showed up.
The appointment’s security, however, was not immediately available.
Furthermore, according to the Bureau of Prisons’ inmate webpage, Taddeo was last seen on March 28th.
