Volunteers aren’t giving up hope of finding a 4-year-old Virginia boy who disappeared nearly seven months ago.
Codi Bigsby’s father, Cory Bigsby, reported him missing on January 31, as CrimeOnline previously reported, saying he hadn’t seen the boy since about 2 a.m.
Cory Bigsby was arrested the day after he reported his son missing for child neglect, and in July, a grand jury formally indicted him on 30 counts of child neglect related to one or more of his four children — but nothing related to his son’s disappearance.
The searches haven’t stopped, WVEC reports.
“People were searching when there was still snow on the ground,” said Cassie Stewart, a search organizer, earlier this month. “I mean, you see its 90-degree weather, we’re sweating. So, obviously, everything is different, and there are tons of things that could still be found.”
Hampton Police Chief Mark Talbot says no evidence has been found to indicate Codi ran away or was abducted. To the volunteers, that means that Codi is out there, somewhere.
“We’re going to continue on canvassing, bringing the word out, just to let everybody know that this child is still out here missing, said Klalil Cribbs, president of United We Stand of Hampton Roads. “We’re going to continue on searching until the community finds answers, until we find answers, until we know what’s going on with this child.”
Organizers have planned a vigil Friday evening at 6 p.m. in Hampton.
