A 75-year-old cancer sufferer who came down with pneumonia and COVID-19 was able to marry his longtime sweetheart, 74, in a hospital room – just two days before he sadly passed away and decades after they first wed and divorced.
The normal monotonous sounds of a hospital were recently replaced with wedding bells for elderly couple Eddie and Patty, from Las Vegas, Nevada.
Eddie and Patty first got married in the 1970s when they were ‘young and stupid.’ However, after only a year together, they split and went their separate ways.
The exes maintained little contact over the years, with both of them moving on and living their own lives.

However, they miraculously re-entered each other’s lives again on Eddie’s birthday five years ago, when Patty decided to send him a message out of the blue, and it re-sparked their romance.
‘Happy birthday to my favorite ex-husband,’ she wrote.
The former husband and wife decided to get dinner together, and they soon fell back in love.
Unfortunately, Eddie – who previously spent 33 years in the military – was diagnosed with cancer in October 2021.
He then developed bacterial pneumonia and became infected with COVID-19, which landed him in the ICU.
On January 24, Eddie texted his now-wife and asked her to marry him – and she said yes.
Unfortunately, due to Eddie’s illnesses, they weren’t allowed to see one another in person, so they looked for ways that they could have a ‘long-distance’ wedding.
However, after MountainView Hospital – where Eddie was staying – caught wind of their plans, they decided to make an exception for the special ceremony, and the two officially tied the knot in Eddie’s hospital room.

They decorated the room with artificial flowers and wrote ‘Just Married’ on the wall.

‘We hope this day was an unforgettable experience for Eddie and Patricia,’ MountainView CEO Julie Taylor said in a statement.
‘This is proof that love prevails, and that people are stronger together and that there are joyful moments amidst the challenges. It was our pleasure to celebrate with them and share in their joy.’
