The Undertaker is still one of the greatest in-ring performers to ever set his foot in WWE. Ever since his debut in the 1990 Survivor Series, The Deadman has maintained his legacy as a legend. He hung up his boots in 2020, after a critically acclaimed match against The Phenomenal One at WrestleMania 36. The match marked the final one in his career and was heavily praised by critics for its impressive storytelling.
During his 30-year-long career, he put over ever several up-and-coming youngsters. Stars such as Roman Reigns and Brock Lesnar are the only two people who were able to break The Undertaker’s 21-year long undefeated streak at WrestleMania.
The Beast Incarnate conquered the streak at WrestleMania 30, after pinning The Phenom. That moment came in as a shock for many and was one of the most unpredictable occurrences of the night. The 57-year-old faced severe injuries and setbacks, but his love for the sport made him return repeatedly.
However, he faced one of the most dangerous moments of his life when he faced his defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30. The match witnessed The Deadman suffer a serious concussion, which eventually led to memory loss. The Undertaker in his documentary, ‘Undertaker: The Last Ride’ claimed how terrifying the injury was, and he has no recollection of that day.
He said, “The match with Brock happened, which, to this day, I still don’t remember. I’m not sure when I got concussed. I don’t know how that match happened.I have no recollection of any of that. My last memory of that day was at about 3.30 in the afternoon. I was gone, man.”
The Undertaker lost his memory from 3:30 pm to 4:00 am after his defeat at the hands of Brock Lesnar in 2014. He further claimed, “What I think happened was between getting older and then not having all the reps and taking all the bumps through the course of the year, eventually it caught up with me. That explains what happened in New Orleans, that’s why the concussion happened, it’s one concussion in one match, it destroyed my confidence.”
His injury had McMahon and Brock Lesnar equally worried, with his wife even claiming that he did not even remember his name. However, it was Triple H who helped him recover and regain his confidence before facing Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania 31.
He further claimed that he believed no one even came to know about the situation. Although The Undertaker suffered an injury at WrestleMania 30, he returned several times and performed in front of the moments for six more years, before finally announcing his retirement.

The Undertaker has become a cult figure in pro wrestling, with every young star aspiring to reach a status like him or even having him as their icon. Not only is The Undertaker a legendary character, but he has an even legendary theme song and entrance.
During an interview with ESPN, he claimed the importance of entrance in one’s career. He said, “Most people don’t realize that the entrance is part of the match. It really is. It sets the whole table for what you’re about to do in the ring and what’s going to happen from that point forward. When that bong went off, that was go time.”
The Undertaker retired from wrestling in 2020, and so did his iconic entrance and music. Every time the gong was heard, fans would receive chills on their necks, such was his the legend’s influence.
