Novak Djokovic, being one of the big three players of this generation, in a way, represents the sport and shoulders the responsibility of guiding the coming generation with their actions. However, sometimes they also make mistakes. It’s only human to do so. Though, what about the outcome and its effect on others?

When standing on such a high pedestal, everything matters and holds value. Therefore, when the Serb made an ‘error of judgment’ exposing a journalist and a cameraman to COVID, it became a huge matter of debate in the tennis world.

Chris Evert’s take on Djokovic’s actions

As the entire tennis fraternity was intent on the issue, veterans were also demanded to respond to the same. Therefore, in an interview, while speaking about Djokovic’s Australian Open ban, Chris Evert decided to weigh in. In January, when the matter was at its peak, she said,“I cringe.”

“It was the cameraman as well as the journalist. And when I read that I was like it’s borderline criminal to expose yourself when you have COVID to somebody knowingly. That’s not good,” he concluded.

Good news for Novak Djokovic

As things seem to return to normal, the Serb is also getting a much more lenient treatment. The Tennis Australia is considering the option of lifting the ban and letting their nine-time champion participate next year.

Also, the US restrictions concerning unvaccinated international travelers in the country, which initially barred Djokovic, have changed as well.
