Michael Jordan or LeBron James: Who is the greatest of all time? This is a question that has been asked for at least half a decade. Both of them have accomplished everything the sport has to offer. Whether it’s NBA championships, MVPs, or Final MVPs, they have won it all. Both of them are compared often. In fact, it can be considered an actively raging debate with all it’s different viewpoints from various personalities. James’ career is yet to be completed as he has just finished his 19 year in the NBA and there is no sign of quitting from him.
Charles Barkley has played with and against Jordan. He has also watched LeBron closely as he works as an in-house analyst for “Inside the NBA”. He was part of a panel discussion years back where he was talking about how unique LeBron James as a player, in front of Jordan’s once teammate and now coach of the Golden State Warriors, Steve Kerr. Barkley said, “LeBron James is the only player that I’ve never seen another player that I can compare to.”

He continues with the assertion there were always 6’8-6’9 players who were super talented but they weighed like 220-230 pounds. He mentions players like Scottie Pippen and Tracy McGrady who were skilled players at similar heights. These players were great defenders, scorers, and were athletic. He finishes his point by saying, “But LeBron outweigh those guys by 30 pounds and we talk about it all the time like oh man, this is a freak of nature”.

LeBron James is indeed one of the best athletes in the world now. He is a global superstar known by everyone in the world. Just like Jordan was in the 90’s.
With the accomplishments he has now, he can’t be dismissed from “The Greatest of All Time” debate, notwithstanding his failures. Jordan, too, faced such criticism before the original three-peat. This piece will not go into who is the greatest because that is still a debate which has no definitive end, even if LeBron retires suddenly.
