Legendary center Shaquille O’Neal is one of the greatest players ever to have played the game of basketball. He is by most estimates a top-three player in his position ever. Thanks to his physique, Shaq dominated both ends of the court for his team. During his playing days, Shaq was the best center in the league; but according to this role, there was a surprising contender for that title.
Regarded as one of the finest to ever grace the court, Wilt Chamberlain, The Big Dipper, was a once-in-a-generation athlete. Like Shaq, Wilt could physically take over a game. The NBA record books are fondly called the personal record books of Wil Chamberlain, as when Wilt retired, he held most of the NBA records. Notably, according to a resurfaced article, Wilt believed that NBA’s tallest player ever, Gheorghe Muresan, was better than Shaq.

Wilt said, “You left off something. I’m saying as they call fouls today, Shaq gets away with what I would consider murder… Shaq is allowed maybe to score some points that maybe he wouldn’t get.”
He continued, “If you made a straight situation and gave the same rules and regulations to Shaq that you give to Gheorghe Muresan. Muresan has a better touch around the basket; he can score more points.”
Shaq – The gentle giant
During his playing career, Shaq played for a multitude of teams. A fan favorite, his most famous stops were Orlando, Los Angeles, and Miami. Orlando was the first stop of his career, as he was their first overall pick in the 1992 NBA Draft.
Shaq had a successful four-year stint with Orlando. But due to dissatisfaction with the front office and local media, he left for LA.
In Los Angeles, Shaq teamed up with Kobe Bryant; during his stay with the Lakers, they absolutely dominated the league, winning three straight NBA Championships together. Shaq then left for Miami in 2004. There, along with Dwyane Wade, he won another championship.
He would make further stops in Pheonix, Cleaveland, and Boston before hanging up his boots. Since being retired, Shaq has carved a successful career in the entertainment and media business. From guest appearances to debates with Charles Barkley on NBA on TNT, Shaq remains a household name even today.
