BBC News presenter Amy Garcia was hailed by viewers last night after breaking down announcing the death of her colleague.
The Look North star had the unpleasant task of reporting sports commentator and local news legend Harry Gration had died.
She told people at home: “As we close the show tonight I have some very sad news to share with you all.
“Our much-loved friend and colleague Harry Gration very suddenly died today.”
Amy broke down as she continued: “We all at Look North are absolutely devastated to give you this news.
“Next week we will take our time to pay tribute to Harry properly – that’s what he deserves.

“But tonight our hearts go out to Harry’s wife Helen, their children and all of Harry’s friends.
“I know that you will want to pay tribute to him as well. Goodnight.”
One viewer tweeted: “Amy my heart broke for you here, you were so brave, you could tell on Look North you were good friend not just colleagues he will be so proud of you.”
Another added: “I would say huge credit to her for showing some genuine emotion though too. it matters. it connects us.”

Harry Gration joined the BBC in 1978 and started at Look North in 1982, continuing on the show until 2020.
His wife Helen, paid tribute to him saying: “He will forever be with us.
“Our three boys and I loved Harry totally. We had an awful lot of fun with him and our home was his life.”
