DOJA Cat broke down in tears live onstage at the Grammys 2022 after vowing to QUIT music.
The singer, 26, and collaborator SZA won the award for Best Pop Duo Performance for their song Kiss Me More.
Doja – real name Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini – became very emotional as she stood on the stage to receive the gong at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on Sunday evening.
Fighting back the tears, Doja said: “This is a big deal.”
After composing herself she added: “Damn. Thank you everybody. Be safe.
“Take care.”
Moments before the Woman songstress rushed on stage to get her award because she was on the loo.
She told everyone in the crowd that she’d “never taken such a fast piss in my whole life”.
It comes just weeks after the star, who was touring in South Africa at the time, recently threatened to quit music.
Many fans had been scratching their heads over if the rapper was over and done with her career after a series of tweets.
In one post she wrote: “it’s gone and i don’t give a f**k anymore i f**kin quit i can’t wait to f**king disappear and i don’t need you to believe in me anymore.”
Another said: “Everything is dead to me, music is dead, and i’m a f**king fool for ever thinking i was made for this this is a f**king nightmare unfollow me.”
She later replied to Florida radio station MIX 105.1’s tweet about the speculation.
The radio channel’s tweet said: “Ok so maybe @DojaCat isn’t retiring.”
Doja replied: “Yes the f**k i am.”
