Tonight, with the ITV2 dating show returning for the first time since last summer, the British public are able to play Cupid.

Voice-over host Iain Sterling revealed earlier this week how the show twist will give viewers the power to choose the first couples.

The big twist was revealed early into the new series – and fans are obsessed with the brand-new show already.

Hundreds took to Twitter within seconds of the show starting to celebrate it was back, admitting they were “loving” the action.

“I’m loving the energy already,” one said, as a second chimed in: “Obsessed with it already – and obsessed with all the contestants.”

“I’m so excited – I don’t care admitting that I’m loving it,” a third wrote, as a fourth agreed: “Love Island has already made me happy.”

“Another year of the show everyone acts like they don’t watch but they definitely do,” a fifth person joked.

Just minutes after the girls were introduced into the villa, host Laura Whitmore revealed the big twist about the public playing Cupid.

As the girls looked round in shock at one another, Laura explained how the new coupling up would work.

“How are you feeling? The decision is out of your hands, it’s up to the public,” Laura explained. “Are you ready to meet the boys?”

Fans headed back to social media to celebrate the twist, with one writing: “Voting on Love Island,” as a second said: “The public?!”

For the first time ever the public get to vote on which boy couples up with which girl in the first Love Island coupling.

Yesterday’s first look saw the girls left in shock at the news – after Laura Whitmore welcomed the islanders to the villa in a racy red outfit.

Elsewhere, the news was also teased by Iain Sterling, revealing the news to Christine Lampard on Lorraine that voting was open.

Iain, who appeared live from the Love Island villa in Majorca, was given the job of revealing the news.

He told the host: “I’m never given any information ever but I’m coming at you now with a big fat exclusive.

“This year, for the first year ever, we want you guys at home to play cupid. You will have your say on which boy couples up with which girl.

“All you have to do is go to the Love Island app right now. The poll is live right now and will close again tomorrow at 9am.”

He added: “It’s a fantastic poll where you get to decide who’s getting coupled up with who.

“You get to look at all the Islanders, get a vibe, see who you think suits to who – or maybe who doesn’t suit to who.

“Then put them together and then we can watch the fireworks fly.”
