KNOWN as stern and hot-blooded Jamie Fraser in Outlander, Sam Heughan has other TV and film credits to his name.

The hunky Scottish actor shared snaps from one of his earlier roles and stunned fans.

Outlander fans are on the edge of their seats while eagerly waiting for the return of the show.

The fantasy drama is set for release next month but in the meantime, Sam decided to share a throwback.

The photos date back to 2016, when Sam played the part of Jacob in the film When the Starlight Ends, one of his first major roles on the silver screen.

The snaps were shared on Sam’s Instagram story and the actor can be seen looking very different from his days as the steamy Highlander.

The pictures show Sam alongside his co-star Arabella Oz (in the role of Cassandra) and the film director Adam Sigal.

He is shown sporting longer and wilder locks as well as a fuller beard and glasses, a stark contrast with his usual appearance.

Revealed in October, 2016, during the Venice Film Festival, When the Starlight Ends tells the story of an eccentric writer named Jacob who was given the choice between his work and the woman he loves.

Looking back at his life, he begins to wonder whether he made the right choice.

Since his role in When the Starlight Ends, Sam has made several appearances in different films, including The Spy Who Dumped Me (2018), Bloodshot (2020) and To Olivia (2021).

He has most recently secured himself a new role in the upcoming movie Text for You.

For now, Outlander fans will be relieved to know they won’t have to wait long until Sam hits the spotlight once again.

The sixth series of Outlander will premiere on Starzplay on March 6, 2022, and subsequently drop on Netflix, although a release date has yet to be confirmed.

But what will happen in Fraser’s Ridge following the bittersweet season five finale?

Sam gave small clues in a video shared to his Twitter account back in December, 2021.

“I think Jamie’s past almost catches up with him slightly or comes back to haunt him”, the actor said.

“We meet some characters who come back into Jamie’s life, and some are good, and some are more unsettling.”

While Claire (portrayed by Irish actress Caitriona Balfe) ended season five in Jamie’s arms claiming she felt safe, despite being the victim of a horrific gang rape, the series ended with a reminder of the upcoming American Revolution.

It’s no surprise that season six will kick-off with mentions of war and Jamie being faced a dilemma.

“This season we’ve had the build up to this War of Independence, this revolution”, informed Sam.

“Jamie’s been on the side of the British, he knows they’re the losing side. As we get closer to that point, stakes are higher.”

“Not only as the country as a whole, but in Fraser’s Ridge as well.”

Will Claire and Jamie be able to change their side of history?
