Ruth Langsford is said to have earned more than both Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield last year – despite her and husband Eamonn Holmes‘ departure from This Morning.

Broadcaster Ruth, 61, hosted the ITV show with Eamonn, 62, on Fridays and during school holidays from 2006 until last December.

But Ruth is still raking in the cash, with tax records for her personal company Hey Ho Ltd suggesting she earned £2,092,863 in 2021.

Holly’s Roxy Media Ltd taxes suggest she made £1,373,695 while Phil’s records indicate he earned £789,542.

A source told The Sun: ‘Ruth has had the last laugh here. She’s proven the talk wrong that she and Eamonn were pale and stale. Her pay from ITV might not be as high as Holly and Phil’s but her earning power outside of the show is vast.

‘She has her gig on shopping channel QVC which is huge, plus her work on Loose Women.

‘Now she is free to make even more shows for other channels. Plus she is always asked to sign up for commercial work and has appeared in adverts for everything from blood circulation boosters to bingo games.’

MailOnline has contacted representatives for Ruth. Holly and Phil for further comment.

While tax documents for a star’s limited company give some indication of their earnings, it does not give a full picture of their overall wealth.

Ruth started working for ITV 23 years ago as a regular panellist on Loose Women and now anchors the daytime show.

She started as a guest presenter on This Morning in 2000 and was made permanent alongside Phillip in 2006.

Later the same year, bosses signed her husband Eamonn up to present alongside her on Fridays.

She has also appeared on the likes of Lose A Stone In Four Week, TV Travel Shop, Zoo Story, Langsford Late, and starred on Strictly Come Dancing in 2017 with professional dancer Anton du Beke.

Eamonn now presents on GB News after he and Ruth left This Morning in December.

It comes after Eamonn described the way he was axed from ITV morning TV as ‘sly’ and claimed the channel made it look like he had decided to walk away during a recent interview with the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine.

'TV is a great job, but I've never felt it's a real job. It's just made to look and sound difficult by people who want to make themselves seem important,' he says (pictured with Ruth last year)

The veteran TV presenter also took aim at Phillip Schofield, calling him ‘passive-aggressive’ and claiming he has a habit of ‘snubbing people’.

On his departure from This Morning, Eamonn said: ‘No one explained anything to me.

‘I’m all for TV companies being able to choose who works for them, but it would be nice if you were told why you were going.

‘They’re sly. They didn’t want to announce that I’d been dropped because it would adversely affect audience figures, so they made it look as if I’d walked away from them rather than the other way round.

‘They had a chat with my agent and announced that I was going to GB News when they’d done no more than ask if I’d be interested in joining them.’

Eamonn, who had previously co-presented ITV breakfast show GMTV for 12 years, added: ‘I’m not going to have myself derided as some sort of has-been. I may be male and pale but I’m still at the top of my game.’

In September 2020 it was reported that Eamonn was ‘not in line with the youth drive’ ITV was after as he was too ‘pale, stale and male’.

Eamonn went on to say he was ‘hurt’ by Phillip cutting short his wife in the middle of a trailer for Loose Women on This Morning in 2019.

Ruth looked shocked, adding: ‘I only had about three more words to say.’

Phillip is renowned for snubbing people,’ Eamonn said.

‘He’s very passive-aggressive. It’s up to Ruth to say how she felt, but I was feeling hurt for her. No one would have snubbed me like that.

‘I have a good Belfast street fighter in me… I would be direct. I don’t go for presenters who think they have a special privilege or aura or influence.’
